Birding is an activity that can bring joy and empowerment to everybody, but not everybody is able to go birding easily. Join Freya McGregor of Birdability — a new non-profit organization working to ensure that the birding community is welcoming, inclusive, safe, and accessible for people with mobility challenges, blindness or low vision, and other disabilities — for an introduction to accessibility in the outdoors.

Learn about why this should matter to you even if you don’t have an accessibility challenge, ways to be a more welcoming and inclusive birder, the Birdability Map of accessible birding locations, and other resources for birders (and potential future birders) with accessibility challenges… because birding is for everybody and every body!

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available. To get the login details, please register here.

Presenter: Freya McGregor is the Birdability Coordinator and an Occupational Therapist. Birding since childhood, her ‘dodgy’ knee often creates an accessibility challenge for her. With a background in blindness and low vision services, she is passionate about enabling all birders and potential future birders to enjoy birding and nature as much as she does.

This event will be recorded. To ensure access to the recording, please register for this event, even if you cannot attend live.
