Source to Sea Cleanup
Keene Keene, NH, United StatesMake a difference for our local rivers during the Connecticut River Conservancy’s 25th Annual Source to Sea Cleanup! In the Monadnock Region, we’ll focus on Beaver Brook and the Ashuelot River in Keene and Swanzey.
LGBTQ+ Community Paddle on Nubanusit Lake
Join Dee Denehy (she, her), Richard Doherty (he, him), and Hunter Kirschner (he, him) for an LGBTQ+ paddle on Nubanusit Lake. After the paddle, we’ll also have access to a private area for swimming, relaxing, and fostering community.
White Swamp via Canoe and Shoe
Join Al Stoops for a paddle to scenic Spoonwood Pond, where we’ll beach the watercraft and head north on foot to explore White Swamp, the site of an old heron rookery.
Golden Hour Paddle at Center Pond
Join Brett Amy Thelen and Jeremy Wilson for a leisurely evening paddle around Center Pond, where we’ll listen for loons, look for beavers, and learn about the curious connection between the Currier Museum of Art and the conservation of this Nelson town gem.
Paddle on the North Branch of the Contoocook
Join Kathy Schillemat and other nature enthusiasts for a morning paddle down the North Branch of the Contoocook River in Stoddard. This section of river is surrounded by conserved land, so the wildlife watching should be excellent!
Sunset Paddle on Norway Pond
Join Phil Brown and other naturalists for an evening paddle across Norway Pond to a wetland rich with birds and turtles.
Shorebirding at Howe Reservoir
Join Eric Masterson for a birding outing at Howe Reservoir, which has been drained to facilitate repairs to the dam — creating an attractive inland stopover site for migrating shorebirds.

Join adventurers Kathy Schillemat and Tom Momeyer for a paddle down the North Branch of the Contoocook River from Robb Reservoir to Compass Pond. With luck, we’ll see herons, waterfowl, turtles, and maybe even moose.

Paddling the North Branch
Join adventurers Kathy Schillemat and Al Stoops for a moderately strenuous paddle down the North Branch of the Contoocook River from below the Robb Reservoir dam to North Branch Pond. With luck, we may see herons, osprey, turtles, beavers, and maybe even otter or moose.
Wild Paddlers at Cunningham Pond
Join Harris Center and Peterborough Recreation staff for a morning meander on Cunningham Pond, where we’ll look for turtles, frogs, herons, and other wildlife. This pond offers the perfect flatwater experience for new paddlers, and an enjoyable exploration for more experienced paddlers as well.
Wild Paddlers on the Contoocook River
Join Harris Center and Peterborough Recreation staff for a morning paddle along a quiet, meandering stretch of the Contoocook River. As we go, we’ll search for birds, turtles, and other wildlife. Bring your own kayak, canoe, or SUP, along with paddles and PFDs for each person in your boat.

Join Harris Center and Peterborough Recreation staff for a morning paddle on the quiet waters of Willard Pond, a secluded pond surrounded by conservation land. As we go, we’ll search for birds, turtles, loons, and signs of other wildlife.
