How do animals survive outdoors during our cold New England winters? Join Harris Center naturalist John Benjamin to explore the many amazing adaptations animals employ to find food, keep warm, and stay alive during the winter months. We’ll learn about freezing wood frogs, chipmunk torpor, foraging flocks of overwintering songbirds, life in the “subnivean zone,” and more. Classes will include indoor presentations and outdoor nature walks. Thursdays, February 7, 14, and 21, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Harris Center.

Cost: $30 for Harris Center members / $50 all others

Instructor: John Benjamin is a teacher-naturalist for the Harris Center. When he isn’t out searching for mushrooms or snakes, he keeps busy creating cartoons and playing bluegrass.

Space is limited, and registration is required. For more information or to register, contact Sara LeFebvre at (603) 525-3394 or by email.
