Exploring Stone Work in the Lyndeborough Hills

Saturday, April 27, 2019,
1:00 pm
to 4:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

When clearing fields for agriculture, early farmers used a variety of methods to dispose of glacial till. The French Road area in Lyndeborough provides examples of these methods, from the primitive to the sublime. Join Dave Butler for a moderately strenuous, 2.5-mile exploration of the area. Wear waterproof footwear and dress for ticks, and meet at 1 p.m. on Russell Station Road at the turnout on the Greenfield/Francestown town line. The turnout is 0.4 miles east of the junction with East Road in Greenfield, and 3 miles west of the Francestown Turnpike in Francestown. Back by 4 p.m.

For more information, please contact Dave.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education, the Piscataquog Land Conservancy, and the Francestown Land Trust.
