Humans and Nature in the Monadnock Region: The First 12,000 Years

Friday, May 14, 2021

  • This event has passed.

Spend a special evening with renowned archaeologist Dr. Bob Goodby as he shares what archaeological finds in Hinsdale, Keene, Swanzey, and Peterborough have revealed about settlement patterns, seasonal movements, technology, and responses to climate change in the Monadnock Region over the last 12,000 years. Learn how our region’s first inhabitants used a broad range of terrestrial and aquatic animals to survive — from caribou at the end of the Pleistocene to anadromous fish and timber rattlesnakes during the Late Archaic and Woodland periods. Come discover the Monadnock Region’s ancient past!

This special Zoom presentation is offered by invitation only to current Harris Center supporters. If you’re already a supporter, you’ll receive an invitation in the mail in early May. If you haven’t yet renewed your support for this year or would like to donate for the first time, please visit our Donate page, call (603) 525-3394, or email Lisa Murray.
