Join archaeologist Dr. Robert Goodby to search for Native American history in Peterborough’s Depot Square. Dr. Goodby will demonstrate how to dig a test pit and explain how human activity in places like downtown Peterborough can make it difficult to recover archaeological evidence. Afterwards, visit the Monadnock Center for History and Culture to see archaeological finds from a nearby river, and learn what that site revealed about Native American life in this area.
10 a.m. to noon at Depot Square in Peterborough. Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event. Space is limited, and registration is now full. For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular outing, including questions about accessibility, contact Susie Spikol.
Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Monadnock Center for History and Culture.
