Nature for All: An Accessible, Inclusive Outing at MacDowell Lake
Friday, May 22, 2026,
8:00 am to 10:00 am

Join naturalists Phil Brown and Susie Spikol to explore the wild side of MacDowell Lake, where a flat, hard-packed gravel path along the lake provides ample opportunity to enjoy birds and other creatures of wetland and woodland alike.
We’ll traverse less than two miles, with plenty of stops to look, listen, and take in the view. Nature for All outings are designed with inclusivity in mind; all are welcome, including people who experience accessibility challenges as a result of a disability or other health concern. Bring binoculars (or borrow a pair from us), and dress for spring conditions, including sun and biting insects.
Meet at 8 a.m. at the lower parking area for Edward MacDowell Lake, off Wilder Street in Peterborough. Done by 10 a.m. Limited accessible parking is located past the dam and park office, and near the beach. For more detailed accessibility information about this site, visit the Birdability Map. Space is limited, and registration is required. For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular outing, including questions about accessibility, contact Phil.
