New Hampshire’s Loons

- This event has passed.
For many, the haunting call of the loon is a quintessential part of the New Hampshire experience. A symbol of the northern wilderness, loons are a beloved fixture on our lakes. However, the breeding season can be a vulnerable time for these iconic birds, who face many threats— both natural and anthropogenic — while on our lakes. Join the Loon Preservation Committee (LPC) for a presentation on the biology, life history, and challenges facing breeding loons, as well as the work LPC has done since 1975 to help recover New Hampshire’s threatened loon population. We’ll also discuss ways that lake users can help loons thrive.
