- This event has passed.
Join Miki Clements-Collier and Denny Wheeler for a moderately strenuous, 3.3-mile roundtrip hike on the trails around Pratt Pond in Mason. From the trailhead on Pratt Pond Road, we’ll head toward Russell-Abbott State Forest, site of the former Abbott starch mill. Then we’ll continue through the woods with views of Pratt Pond, returning to our cars via the rail trail, with a possible detour to a hidden waterfall. Come prepared for a few stream crossings and some short-but-steep elevation gains totaling approximately 250 feet. This area is full of wildlife, including moose, deer, bobcat, and waterbirds.
Meet at 9 a.m. at the rail trail parking area on Pratt Pond Road in Mason. Back by noon. Space is limited, and registration is required.
For general information about Harris Center field trips, including questions about accessibility, see our Outings Information page. For questions about this particular outing, please contact Miki.
