Join vernal pool enthusiasts Brett Amy Thelen and Cheri Domina for a moderately strenuous, 1.5-mile roundtrip hike to a hilltop vernal pool, where we’ll search for spotted salamander eggs and other springtime wonders. In addition to our vernal pool discoveries, we’ll be rewarded for our climb with great views from the top of Hewes Hill and a chance to tip the famous rock. Expect about 300 feet of elevation gain.

4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Tippin’ Rock Trail in Swanzey. Space is limited, and registration is full.

For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular outing, including questions about accessibility, contact Brett.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education, the Swanzey Conservation Commission, and Tippin’ Rock Farm.
