Where Do All the Wood Chips Go?

Friday, June 22, 2018,
9:00 am
to 5:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

You’re probably familiar with the open-backed 18-wheeler trucks that haul wood chips down our highways and byways every winter, but you may not know that many of them make a journey to Schiller Station in Portsmouth, NH, where they’re transformed into electricity. Join Eric Masterson, Karen Bennett, and Steve Roberge for a field trip to Schiller, where we’ll take a walking tour through the operation.

Bring a packed lunch, wear sturdy shoes (a must!) and long pants, and be prepared to traverse an elevated walkway 100 feet above the ground. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Harris Center to carpool. Back by 5 p.m. Please RSVP to Sara LeFebvre at (603) 525-3394 or by email.

Cosponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the UNH Cooperative Extension.
