SUMMARY:Easygoing Hike at Crotched Mountain
DESCRIPTION:Contact Miles at (603) 525-3394 or by email to join the waitlist. \nJoin Phil Brown and Ignacio Oreamuno to hike one of Crotched Mountain’s universal-access trails. Depending on the day and conditions\, we’ll either climb the Gregg Trail to an outlook or descend to a wetland loop on the Dutton Brook Trail. Either way\, we’ll be on the lookout for signs of the season as we move slowly\, making intentional stops to discuss natural history and other points of interest. Bring water\, and come prepared to walk up to 2 miles roundtrip. \n10 a.m. to noon at Crotched Mountain in Greenfield. Exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event. Space is limited\, and registration is full. DESCRIPTION:Ramble along Crotched Mountain’s accessible trails with Harris Center naturalist Susie Spikol and Bird Conservation Director Phil Brown. We’ll look and listen for mid-summer singers\, secretive nesters\, and young fledglings\, taking our time to notice the mountain’s other wild delights as well. Bring binoculars (or borrow a pair from us)\, and dress for the weather and conditions\, including sun and biting insects. Beginning birders and all ages welcome! \nMeet at 9 a.m. at the Crotched Mountain Accessible Trails parking area at 1 Verney Drive in Greenfield. DESCRIPTION:Join a kettle of raptor enthusiasts for this morning of hawkwatching\, birds of prey activities\, and a real live Red-tailed Hawk on the hand of a NH Audubon educator! Meade Cadot\, Francie Von Mertens\, Phil Brown\, Susie Spikol\, and Hilary Chapman will all be on hand to celebrate 50 years of Harris Center hawkwatching where it all began\, on Blueberry Ridge. This program is a great way for families to learn how to scan the skies for these amazing birds. 9 a.m. to noon at Crotched Mountain in Greenfield. \nTo get there from Route 31 in Greenfield\, turn up the hill at the sign for the Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center. Proceed just past the Center’s entrance to the trail parking on the left. From there\, it’s a 10- to 15-minute hike on Crotched Mountan’s accessible trails to the observation platform.
