SUMMARY:SuperSanctuary BioBlitz
DESCRIPTION:Our SuperSanctuary of protected lands encompasses more than 26\,000 acres\, and it’s full of native biodiversity — from snakes to slime molds\, moose to moss. We’re documenting as many of these species as possible via the community science platform iNaturalist\, and we need your help to find even more! \nFor our second annual BioBlitz\, we will explore the Jaquith Rail Trail in two different ways. In the morning\, we’ll stick close to the trail\, focusing on the flora and fauna of the uplands and nearby beaver wetlands. In the afternoon\, we’ll head off-trail to explore parts of the property not often seen. The morning session will be on mostly flat ground\, while the afternoon outing will feature uneven terrain and moderate slopes. Register for one session or both! \nWe need your curiosity and sharp eye! Staff ecologist and iNaturalist expert Nate Marchessault (pictured) will be on hand to answer your questions. Bring water\, snacks\, and a phone or tablet with the iNaturalist app installed\, and come prepared for biting insects. \n9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. at the Jaquith Rail Trail in Hancock. Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event. Space is limited\, and separate registration is required for each session. \nClick here to register for the 9 a.m. to noon session\, which will be on flat ground on the trail. \nClick here to register for the 1 to 4 p.m. session\, which will mostly be off-trail. Come prepared for moderate slopes and uneven terrain. \nFor general information about Harris Center programs\, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular event\, including questions about accessibility\, please contact Nate Marchessault. \n \n

SUMMARY:Jaquith Jaunt
DESCRIPTION:Join Brett Amy Thelen and Jeremy Wilson for an easy 3-mile roundtrip walk along the Jaquith Rail Trail\, once the site of the Manchester & Keene rail line. If we’re lucky\, cardinal flower will be blooming along the banks of Jaquith Brook\, visible from an historic steel truss bridge above.
