SUMMARY:Nature on Tap: In Nature\, Queer is Everywhere
DESCRIPTION:The strength and resiliency of ecosystems depend on diversity. In nature\, sex and sexual behavior manifest in countless ways. Forget the talk of “male\,” “female\,” and gender essentialism. What actually exists? Cosexual trees\, gynandromorph butterflies\, mushrooms with 20\,000+ mating types\, and sex-changing species\, to name a few. Celebrate Keene Pride Week by joining Nik Katrick\, the director of The Nature Museum in Grafton\, Vermont\, as we talk about the sexual diversity that exists around the world\, and ask: Why isn’t this the norm in biology class? \n7 to 8 p.m. at NOVA Arts in Keene. Space is limited\, and registration is recommended. For more information about this particular event\, including questions about accessibility\, contact Susie Spikol. \nAbout Nik Katrick\nNik Katrick (they/them) is the director of The Nature Museum\, an environmental education non-profit in Grafton\, Vermont. With a background in wolf biology\, fiction writing\, and non-profit management\, they weave together science and story to draw people into the mystery of the natural world. When not at the museum\, they are an active volunteer with the Chase Hill Kindred\, Earthspirit Community\, and Marlboro Volunteer Fire Company. They love to wander around their forested mountain home with their partner\, as well as build things\, write fantasy novels about werewolves\, and marvel at the strange and wonderful creatures that live in the world around us. \nCo-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education\, the Monadnock Conservancy\, and Keene Pride. \n \n  \n
