DESCRIPTION:Join Harris Center ecologists Brett Amy Thelen and Nate Marchessault to survey for monarch eggs\, caterpillars\, and butterflies in a Harris Center-conserved milkweed patch. Our data will contribute to the Monarch Larva Monitoring Project\, a community science initiative aimed at understanding and protecting this iconic insect throughout North America. No experience necessary! Come prepared for sun\, ticks\, and other biting insects. \n9 to 10:30 a.m. in Peterborough. Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event. DESCRIPTION:If you love monarch butterflies and want to help scientists find out more about these remarkable insects\, here’s your chance! Join a team of Harris Center naturalists at a local milkweed patch\, where we’ll count monarch eggs\, caterpillars\, and butterflies. If you enjoy treasure hunts and have a sharp eye\, this morning of community science is for you. \nChildren under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an interested family member. All others can attend without parental supervision. \n4 to 5 p.m. in Peterborough. Exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event.
