DESCRIPTION:This playful documentary follows wildlife filmmaker Charlie Hamilton James as he chronicles the rehabilitation of three orphaned river otters and travels across the globe in search of other otter species — revealing the secrets of their survival through never-before-seen footage. Following the film\, Harris Center naturalist and otter aficionado Susie Spikol will be on hand for questions\, along with an assortment of otter-related artifacts from the Harris Center’s natural history collection. \n7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Putnam Theater at Keene State College. Free of charge\, though donations are gratefully accepted to help cover the film license fees. Suggested donation: $5. DESCRIPTION:The spectacular light produced by glowworms\, fireflies\, and plankton is known as “bioluminescence” – light made by living creatures. But those familiar glows and flashes are just a tiny fragment of the bioluminescent world. Explore the mysterious realm of living light with this award-winning documentary film\, which follows David Attenborough and a team of researchers as they investigate the science of bioluminescence\, including several species found right here in New England. Following the film\, local mycologist Dave Wichland will give a brief talk to “shed some light” on bioluminescent mushrooms. \n7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Putnam Theater at Keene State College.
