Ian Aldrich is a sophomore at Unity College in Maine, where he studies wildlife biology and sustainable forest practices. He grew up in Hancock, just a five-minute drive from the Harris Center, and developed his love for nature while exploring Harris Center lands as a child. He’s an alumni of several Harris Center education and camp programs, and was a 2018 recipient of our Environmental Leadership Award. Ian is passionate about the edges between ecology and agriculture, especially the interactions between agriculture and native wildlife.
In his 2020 internship with the Harris Center, Ian will be monitoring conservation easements as part of our land protection and stewardship program.
When he isn’t working with the Harris Center or on a local organic farm, you can find him fishing, canoeing, foraging for wild edibles, or keeping an eye out for wildlife.
