Outdoor Adventures for Curious Kids
Harris Center camps — both summer and winter — are rooted in exploration of the natural world.
Summer Adventures
For more than 40 years, fields, forests, ponds, and mountains have served as the backdrop for the Harris Center’s summer programs, which offer outdoor explorations for kids in pre-school through 10th grade. Harris Center summer campers hike, play, climb, canoe, camp, paint, build, sing, and learn alongside skilled naturalists.
In 2026, summer camp is July 13 to 17 and 2o to 24, with a special leadership camp for 8th through 10th graders on June 29 to July 2. Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 3. Summer camp fills quickly, so registering the morning of March 3 is highly recommended. You can view the full summer camp brochure here.
Camp scholarships are also offered. (Please contact Miles Stahmann for an application.) Before Care is available from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Tuesday-Friday for $5 per day per child. After Care is available from 3 to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for $15 per day per child.
Winter Vacation Camp
Bring your sense of curiosity as we search for wildlife tracks, make ice art, play games in the snow, and explore our favorite trails, giant boulders, and secret dens! We’ll look for animal signs, listen for bird calls, and engineer our own winter forts. Activities will include games, crafts, and plant study, so come prepared for an immersive, nature-packed experience.
In 2026, this three-day February Vacation Camp for kids in Grades K through 4 will take place from Monday, February 23 to Wednesday, February 25 at the Harris Center. Registration for this camp opens at 9 a.m. on January 2.
Wilderness Survival Skills for Middle Schoolers
Learn the fundamentals of winter survival with the Harris Center! We’ll guide beginners through essential winter skills, including fire building, water collecting, and crucial first aid — then put our knowledge to the test with a big hike up Mount Skatutakee. Bring your enthusiasm for the outdoors, and we’ll handle the rest.
In 2026, this three-day Wilderness Survival camp for kids ages 10 to 14 will take place from Monday, February 23 to Wednesday, February 25 at the Harris Center. Registration for this camp opens at 9 a.m. on January 2.
