eBird began with the simple idea that every birder has unique knowledge and experience. Now it’s one of the largest community science platforms in the world, helping birders connect with the natural world and with each other, and powering new data-driven approaches to avian science, conservation, and education. Join ecologist, birder, and eBird expert Steven Lamonde to discover how this community-sourced dataset can support local bird conservation. We’ll learn how to record and share bird observations via eBird, explore active bird conservation initiatives in New Hampshire, and identify new eBird uses for your own community.

This class meets on Wednesdays, September 14, 21 & 28, and October 5, from 5 to 6 p.m. via Zoom. A bonus, in-person fifth session will be scheduled during the second week of October (date TBD).

Free of charge, thanks to generous support from the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Northeast Bird Habitat Conservation Initiative.

Instructor: Steven Lamonde is an ecologist and project manager for Moosewood Ecological and an affiliate professor at Antioch University. He holds a BS in Environmental Science from Johnson State College and an MS in Conservation Biology from Antioch University New England. Never without binoculars or a camera close at hand, Steven enjoys taking any opportunity to document New England’s biodiversity.

Space is limited, and registration is required. For questions about registration, please contact Miles Stahmann. For other questions, contact Susie Spikol.
