Want to see the Greatest Show Above Earth? Then join Harris Center naturalist Susie Spikol for a morning of hawkwatching at the Pack Monadnock Raptor Observatory! We’ll scan the skies for migrating raptors, and learn why these birds make a long-distance journey every fall and how they do it. We’ll also have a chance to meet a real raptor biologist. Perfect for families with elementary-aged children.

Make a day of it by hiking from the base of Pack Monadnock to the Observatory platform at the summit (3 miles roundtrip and 840 feet of elevation gain), or drive up via the auto road. Learn more about options for parking and hiking, as well as accessibility information, on our Visiting the Hawk Watch page.

11 a.m. to noon at the Pack Monadnock Raptor Observatory at Miller State Park in Peterborough. This program will be canceled in the event of rain, and cancellations will be announced here, so check back before heading out if there’s wet weather in the forecast.

The program is free of charge, but there is a small entrance fee for Miller State Park, and park reservations are required. For more information on Miller State Park fees and reservations, visit the Miller State Park website. For more information on this event, please contact Ben.
