Snowshoe Hike in the Mount Thumb Bowl

Saturday, March 14, 2020,
1:00 pm
to 4:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

The hollow formed by the southern and western slopes of Mounts Thumb and Skatutakee was once completely cleared for farming. Today it’s a beautiful hardwood forest dotted with boulders plucked from the ridge by a long-ago glacier. Join Dave Butler for a moderately strenuous snowshoe hike of the area, first on the Cadot Trail, then off-trail through the bowl. Expect to hike on trails for two miles, with one mile of bushwhacking. Bring snowshoes, and meet at 1 p.m. at the Harris Center to carpool to the Cadot Trail trailhead. Back by 4 p.m. For more information, please contact Dave by email.
