All About Jack’s Pond: A History Hike
Saturday, October 2, 2021,
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
- This event has passed.

Nestled at the base of Mount Skatutakee, Jack’s Pond is one of Hancock’s hidden gems. The pond is named after Jack, a once-enslaved African who gained his freedom and lived nearby in the late 1700s and early 1800s. Join Hancock writer Eric Aldrich for a 1.75-mile roundtrip hike to Jack’s Pond, where we’ll hear about Jack’s life, the families he was connected with, and how Black history that’s been so long in the shadows is now coming to light.
We’ll meet at the Harris Center at 10 a.m., and be back around noon. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, please email Susie Spikol.
Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire.
