Birding for All: World Migratory Bird Day Big Sit at Pack Monadnock
Saturday, October 8, 2022,
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- This event has passed.
Join Harris Center raptor biologist Levi Burford and volunteers to tally and enjoy all bird species observed during one day from a single location: the Pack Monadnock Raptor Observatory in Peterborough. This global “Big Day” of birding both celebrates and highlights the needs of migratory birds across flyways, and there’s no better place to enjoy the spectacle locally than at the Observatory.
Past Big Sits at Pack have tallied a dozen or so raptor species, as well as other fall migrants including warblers, sparrows, and waterfowl. Birding for All outings are designed for people of all abilities, including those who experience accessibility challenges as a result of a disability or other health concern. Please dress in layers, bring water and snacks, and be prepared for summit conditions. Beginning birders and all ages welcome!
10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Raptor Observatory atop Pack Monadnock in Miller State Park in Peterborough. Come anytime during that window to be part of the tally. State park reservations and a small fee are required for visiting Pack Monadnock.
For more information on park fees and reservations, visit the Miller State Park website; general information about visiting the Observatory can be found on our Visiting the Hawk Watch page.
