Book Launch: “A Deep Presence” by Dr. Robert Goodby
Monday, October 11, 2021,
6:00 pm to 7:30 pm
- This event has passed.
As caribou and the last of the wooly mammoths roamed the land, small groups of Paleoindians endured frigid winters on the edge of a river in what would become Keene, New Hampshire. Thus begins the remarkable story of Native Americans in the Monadnock Region, revealed by archaeologist Robert Goodby in his new book, A Deep Presence: 13,000 Years of Native American History. Richly illustrated with 60 color photographs, this compelling book tells their story in a narrative fashion, presenting evidence from archaeology, written history, and the living traditions of today’s Abenaki people.
A Deep Presence was produced in partnership with the Historical Society of Cheshire County and the Harris Center, who are proud to present this important volume on the region’s first inhabitants. Copies of the book will be available for sale at this special event, and the author will be on hand for questions and autographs.
6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Historical Society of Cheshire County in Keene and via Zoom.
The in-person event is now full, but you can register for the Zoom here.
