Birds are the messengers of the forest. With powerful awareness, mobility, and the ability to communicate loudly, they’re able to help other animals (including humans) know what’s happening unseen in the landscape. In this four-week course with teacher and naturalist Kevin Bose, we’ll learn how to listen deeply, how to tell what different bird calls mean, and how practicing bird language can give us a deeper understanding of the interconnections in the world around us.

This course meets on Wednesdays, July 20 & 27 and August 3 & 10, from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Harris Center.

Cost: $40 for Harris Center supporters / $60 for all others

Instructor: Kevin Bose holds an MA in Culture, Ecology, and Sustainable Community, and has mentored children and adults in nature for 15 years. He currently teaches at LEAF Charter High School in Alstead, and gets out in the wilderness with his two sons as often as possible. He is also a graduate of a year-long course called Regenerative Design and Nature Awareness, which aims to bring permaculture solutions to the cultural and environmental crisis and to build community around nature connection. In that program, he was mentored by Jon Young (author of What the Robin Knows) in bird language as a core routine.

Space is limited, and registration is required. For questions about registration, please contact Miles Stahmann. For other questions, contact Susie Spikol.
