If you think porcupines are solitary curmudgeons, you’re only partly right. Join naturalist Patti Smith, who has spent countless hours in the company of porcupines, as she tells the story of orphaned Burdock, one of her favorite porcupine teachers. From his strange childhood through the challenges of becoming fully adult in the wild, Patti will share the surprising relationships she observed as Burdock introduced her to the society of porcupines.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available. To get the login details, please register here.

Presenter: Patti Smith is a naturalist and wildlife rehabilitator at the Bonnyvale Environmental Education Center in Brattleboro, VT. Readers of her book, The Beavers of Popple’s Pond, or her View from Heifer Hill columns in the Brattleboro Reformer know that some of her best friends are porcupines and beavers, but she thinks opossums are pretty great too.

This event will be recorded. To ensure access to the recording, please register for this event, even if you cannot attend live.
