Women in Science Speaker Series: Corals and Climate Change — Learning from the Past
Wednesday, March 17, 2021,
12:00 pm to 1:00 pm
- This event has passed.
Shakespeare said, “what’s past is prologue” — and paleoclimatologists agree. Paleoclimatologists study past climate change in an effort to better understand modern problems and plan for the future. Corals can live for decades to hundreds of years, providing exceptional insight into the changing climate along tropical coasts. Join paleoclimatologist Dr. Logan Brenner to learn how the geochemical composition of coral skeletons can reflect the conditions of the water in which they grew, and what this can reveal about our planet’s past, present, and future.
Noon to 1 p.m. via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available. To get the login details, please register here.
Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education, the Hancock Town Library, the Jaffrey Public Library, the Keene Public Library, and the Peterborough Town Library. The Women in Science Speaker Series is made possible with support from the Putnam Foundation, a donor-advised fund of the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation.
