Peterborough

Karen PetersonKaren Peterson feels incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by the natural bounty of New Hampshire, where opportunities for birding, paddling, hiking, swimming, and exploration abound. She believes that understanding and preserving natural habitats for future generations is a responsibility shared by all.

After a 25-year career in magazine publishing—working in Texas, Boston, Alaska, and ultimately New Hampshire, Karen transitioned into fundraising and development, spending the past two decades supporting a regional human services organization. Although recently retired, she continues to indulge in small marketing projects as opportunities arise.

Karen’s greatest passions are literacy, libraries, and the land. In addition to serving on the Harris Center board, she is Treasurer of The 1833 Society at the Peterborough Town Library. Over the years, she has served on numerous local boards and committees, including the Peterborough Library Trustees, the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce, the Monadnock United Way Allocations Committee, and the New Hampshire Council on Literacy.

Karen holds an undergraduate degree in French and Education and an MBA from Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
