KSC Conservation Intern

Maya Carey smiles while holding a small turtle.Maya (she/her) is a rising senior at Keene State College, where she is pursuing a BS in Environmental Studies with a minor in Sustainability. She is passionate about environmental advocacy and protecting biodiversity. After college, she hopes to travel and work in the conservation field.

From Westmoreland, New Hampshire, she loves being surrounded by her many animals, being with family and friends, and spending time by the water.

Maya is one of four KSC students who were hired in 2025 to conduct ecological research, assist with stewardship and environmental education activities, and gain specialized training and firsthand experience with many facets of the Harris Center’s work as part of our summer conservation internship partnership with KSC.
