Writing the Land: Channels

Celebrating Protected Land

Channels book cover

This anthology features poetry from New Hampshire poet laureate (2014-2019) Alice B. Fogel, inspired by her time on the Harris Center’s Hiroshi land, and from local poet-falconer Henry Walters, who writes about his experience observing saw-whet owl banding at Kulish Ledges.

Writing the Land: Channels also includes poetry celebrating lands protected by nine other North American land trusts.

Editor Lis McLoughlin says, “Writing the Land is an attempt to honor nature and our relationship with it in a way that is as equitable and transparent as it is deep and entangled. We intend to be as inclusive—to humans and places — as we hope the mantle of protection that land trusts offer can be. Our work will never be complete but gains strength, depth, beauty, and energy in a multitude of voices.”
