Saturday, May 13,
7:00 pm to 8:30 pm
- This event has passed.
Join us for an art auction and evening of talks by Phil Brown (Harris Center Bird Conservation Director), Mike Akresh (Co-Director of Antioch University’s Institute for International Conservation), and Nate Irwin (artist, Antioch Environmental Studies MS ’23, founder of Illuminate Conservation) to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day! Meet the artist and presenters, make your bid on artwork featuring the Broad-winged Hawk (valued at $4500) and the SuperSanctuary, and enjoy refreshments. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Harris Center’s Broad-winged Hawk research project and the IIC.
IIC will be selling a limited supply of Deans’ Beans and Cafe Solar sustainable fair-trade organic coffee, proceeds which also go to the Student Raised Grant (SRG) for AUNE students who are conducting research or projects pertaining to ecology, environmental education, sustainable development, natural resource management or conservation internationally.
7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Harris Center. Space is limited, and registration is requested. Attendees may enjoy refreshments while enjoying the art, speaking with the artist, bidding through a silent auction, and visiting the IIC table. Presentations will follow, followed by more bidding. For more information, including questions about accessibility, contact Phil.
BONUS: A Bird Book Giveaway Table will start at 6 p.m. and be open throughout the evening. “Backyard Birder” Francie Von Mertens will be on hand to answer your bird book questions as you peruse a wide array of beautiful and informative bird books, free for the taking.
Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and Antioch University’s Institute for International Conservation (IIC) and Illuminate Conservation.
