Enjoy a morning of birding with naturalists Phil Brown and Susie Spikol at MacDowell Lake, where a hard-packed gravel path provides ample opportunity to enjoy birds of wetland and woodland alike. Songbird migration will be in full swing, and we’ll look and listen for warblers, vireos, flycatchers, waterfowl, raptors, and other birds.
Meet at 9 a.m. at the lower parking area for Edward MacDowell Lake, off Wilder Street in Peterborough. Back by 11 a.m. Limited accessible parking is located past the dam and park office, and near the beach. Bring binoculars (or borrow a pair from us), and dress for the weather and conditions, including sun and biting insects. Space is limited, and registration is required. For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For questions about this particular event, please contact Phil.
Birding for All outings are designed for people of all abilities, including those who experience accessibility challenges as a result of a disability or other health concern. Beginning birders and all ages welcome! For more detailed accessibility information about this site, see this listing on the Birdability map.
