Slow down. Notice more. Let curiosity lead the way. In a world that moves too fast, pausing to observe a tiny mushroom, the curl of bark, or the color of changing leaves can restore your sense of wonder and well-being. This immersive workshop series led by Christine Andrews invites you to experience the forest through the eyes of both an artist and a naturalist.

Inspired by John Muir’s journaling approach (“I notice…, I wonder…, it reminds me of…”), participants will learn foundational nature journaling skills and basic contour drawing, and deepen their ecological awareness. Along the way, we’ll share anecdotes about woodland species, share our experiences with the group, and receive the health benefits of time spent outdoors. All materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own sketchbook, ink pens, and pencils. Read more details about the workshop here.

This Environmental Studies Institute (ESI) course will meet on Mondays, June 15, 22 & 29, and July 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Harris Center.

Cost: $120 for Harris Center supporters / $140 for all others. Space is limited, and registration is requiredFor questions about registration, contact Miles Stahmann. For all other information, including questions about accessibility, contact Susie Spikol.
