Join Harris Center ecologist Brett Amy Thelen, longtime outing leader Ben Haubrich, and Historic Harrisville Director Erin Hammerstadt for a 1.75-mile loop hike from Harrisville’s historic mill village through the Zophar Willard Woods – once a woodlot for a 19th-century clothespin and wooden box factory, now conservation land protected by Historic Harrisville. Our route will take us behind Cheshire Mill No. 2, along Nubanusit Brook, through a quiet woodland, and along the edge of a scenic field before returning via village roads. The trail includes some roots, rocks, wet spots, and a few gentle climbs, but we’ll move at a relaxed pace and stop often to talk history, both natural and cultural.
10 a.m. to noon in Harrisville. Exact meeting location will be provided upon registration. Space is limited, and registration is required.
