This popular Environmental Studies Institute series, facilitated by Harris Center naturalist and lifelong hiker Janet Altobello, is designed to support women who want to build their confidence as they get back into hiking. We’ll practice skills such as trip planning, using maps and guidebooks, and reading the landscape. The first session will include time to talk gear and what to pack for safety and comfort. Each week we’ll do a progressively more challenging hike, adding elevation gain and distance. All hikes will be 2-3 miles long, and will include time to quietly absorb the beauty of October through our senses. Limited to 8 hikers. We’ll hike rain or shine!
Wednesdays, October 9, 16, and 23, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., carpooling from the Harris Center to local hiking destinations.
Cost: $30 for Harris Center donors / $50 all others
Space is limited and registration is required. For more information or to register, contact Sara LeFebvre at (603) 525-3394 or by email.
