Colorful drawing of a White-throated Sparrow by Lauryn Welch

In this course, fine artist Lauryn Welch will introduce you to techniques for drawing our avian neighbors, from quick gestural drawings of songbirds at the bird feeder to detailed observational studies of preserved birds from the Harris Center’s extensive taxidermy collection. Students will learn drawing basics like composition, anatomy, and drawing from life in pencil, pastel, and marker. We’ll also learn about bird behavior, coloration, and habitats. Some materials provided, but bring your own sketchbook! Mondays, July 22, 29, and August 5, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Harris Center.

Cost: $40 for Harris Center supporters / $60 all others
