Join acclaimed naturalist Lynn Levine for a day of learning all about ferns! Author of the award-winning guide Identifying Ferns the Easy Way: A Pocket Guide to Common Ferns of the Northeast, Lynn will begin this one-day course with an indoor introduction to ferns – incredible plants which have survived four mass extinctions. After a short break for lunch, we’ll head outside in search of ferns to observe and identify. Although we won’t be hiking far, it will be on uneven ground.
10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Harris Center and local field sites. Rain date: July 28.
Cost: $40 for Harris Center supporters / $60 for all others
Instructor: Lynn Levine’s most recent book, Identifying Ferns the Easy Way: A Pocket Guide to Common Ferns of the Northeast, is the winner of the 2019 Informational Nonfiction Book Award from the Independent Publishers of New England (IPNE). An environmental educator and naturalist, Lynn is also the author of two popular mammal tracking field guides and two children’s books. Over the years, she has taken thousands of people into the forest to share her love of nature.
