Join Stan Smith and Vic Starzynski for a 5-mile hike on trails to Bacon Ledges and Trout Pond, through land conserved by the Forest Society. From the ledges, we’ll hike toward Round Mountain, passing east of the peak toward Lightning Hill before proceeding to our endpoint on Shedd Hill Road. Expect a moderately strenuous hike with 600 feet of elevation gain. Bring water and lunch for a picturesque break at Trout Pond. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the pulloff at the intersection of Routes 9 and 123 South in Stoddard. From there, we’ll carpool to leave a car at Shedd Hill before returning to the starting point on Barrett Pond Road. Back around 3 p.m.

Space is limited, and registration is required. For general information about Harris Center field trips, including questions about accessibility, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular event, please contact Stan.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Forest Society.
