Join avid hiker Miki Clements and birder Gail Coffey for a 1.3-mile loop hike through the Nissitissit River Headwaters Preserve, which was recently protected by the Mason Conservation Commission and Piscataquog Land Conservancy. This preserve features a pond, a meadow, and varied woodlands, which are home to many species of breeding and migratory birds. Our route along a new loop trail will include all of these habitats, as well as a slight climb to a lovely rock formation. Dress for the weather and conditions, including biting insects.
Meet at 9 a.m. at the Nissitissit River Headwaters Preserve trailhead on Abbott Hill Road in Mason. Back by 11 a.m. Space is limited, and registration is full.
For general information about Harris Center field trips, including questions about accessibility, see our Outings Information page. For questions about this particular outing, contact Miki or Gail.
