Small enough to sit in your hand, saw-whet owls migrate through New England by the thousands each fall, offering a unique opportunity for study. Join Harris Center Bird Conservation Director Phil Brown, naturalist Susie Spikol, and other members of the Harris Center’s owl banding team to learn about this pint-sized bird of prey and see a demonstration of the bird banding process. Don’t miss this opportunity to grow your skills and connect with other young birders! For students in grades 5 through 12.

8 to 9:30 p.m. in Hancock. Space is limited, and registration is required. For more information, including questions about accessibility, contact Susie.

Note: In order to meet demand for this popular event, we’re also hosting saw-whet banding demonstrations on October 23 and 29, as well as one for families on October 25. To allow as many participants as possible to observe the owl banding process, we kindly request that each person register for only one owl banding demonstration per season.

Be sure to check out this related event: Kestrels Young Birders Club: SuperSanctuary BioBlitz on September 7.
