A person's lower legs, in red pants and hiking boots, walking through the woods.

Join Richard Doherty (he/him) and Hunter Kirschner (he/they) for an LGBTQIA+ community hike through the Bear’s Den Natural Area. Expect “oohs” and “ahhs” from fellow trekkers as we explore this enchanting place! Our 2- to 3-mile roundtrip route offers a variety of geological and ecological experiences, with 300 feet of elevation gain and an optional scramble up a 100-foot rockfall. The scramble is passable for novice climbers, though it requires the use of all limbs. The reward is a sweeping view to the northwest. There are also wonderful glacial potholes and boulders to explore. This hike is specifically for members of the LGBTQIA+ community.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bear’s Den Natural Area in Glisum. Space is limited, and registration is required. Directions to the exact meeting location will be provided prior to the event. Bring lunch, and come prepared for spring conditions, including mud and insects.

For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular outing, including questions about accessibility, contact Richard or Hunter.
