Creating nature mandalas is not only a relaxing, peaceful, and fun way to spend time outdoors — it also offers a new perspective on the beautiful colors and shapes of nature. Join local environmental artist Sarah Wilson for this morning workshop to learn some tips and techniques for creating outdoor mandalas using only natural materials. Once we’ve gone over the basics, we’ll work as a group to make one large mandala, leaving our creation for others to enjoy as wind, sun, rain, and local critters slowly reclaim it. This workshop will take place entirely outside, so be sure to dress for the weather. If conditions are truly uncooperative, we’ll move indoors to make smaller, individual mandalas that you can take home with you.

10 a.m. to noon at the Harris Center. Space is limited, and registration is full. For more information, including questions about accessibility, contact Susie Spikol.

Sarah Wilson has been artsy her whole life, but it wasn’t until she completed her master’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies at Antioch University New England six years ago that she discovered “Environmental Art.” Since then, she has been making art outdoors in all four seasons, using natural materials. This new form of art has changed her life for the better. She loves sharing her skills and ever-evolving knowledge of the practice with others.
