As nature makes a dramatic transition from the quietude of winter to the new life of spring, parallel changes may occur in our own lives. In this workshop facilitated by poet Brian Evans-Jones, we’ll explore this phenomenon by observing the natural world and writing our own poetry in a small, supportive group. We’ll read and discuss great poems about nature and change, spend time looking closely at nature both at the Harris Center and at a beautiful cabin in Jaffrey, and then craft our own poems based on what we’ve seen, heard, and felt. Suitable for all levels of poetry experience, including beginners.

This group meets Wednesdays, April 10, 17 & 24, and May 1, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Harris Center and local field sites.

Cost: $80 for Harris Center supporters / $100 for all others

Brian Evans-Jones is a poet and teacher from Britain who now lives in Sharon, New Hampshire. He was formerly Poet Laureate of Hampshire, England, and he won the Maureen Egan Award from Poets & Writers in 2017. His poems have been published in journals and contests on both sides of the Atlantic, and he has taught poetry in colleges, schools, and workshops for 20 years. He also teaches online through his website The Poetry Place, where he publishes resources on poetry and creativity.
