Protecting the Silver Lake Shoreline
The Silver Lake Land Trust and Seaver Silver Lake Farm Trust are working with the Harris Center to conserve the largest remaining undeveloped and unprotected parcel abutting Silver Lake.
The proposed conservation easement includes 50 acres and nearly 800 feet of shoreline on the southern end of the lake in Harrisville. It would also add to a block of 6,000+ acres of contiguous conservation land in the towns of Nelson, Roxbury, Harrisville, and Marlborough. If the project is successful, an astounding 80% of the Silver Lake watershed will be protected – including 2.9 miles of shoreline – preserving water quality in Silver Lake for many generations to come.
