Scholarships Awarded to Rising Environmental Leaders

The Harris Center is proud to present our 2022 Environmental Leadership Awards to two graduating high school seniors who have a demonstrated passion for the natural world, a strong commitment to the environment, and the capacity to create positive change in their community and beyond — Karel Wolterbeek of Conant High School and Caitlin Beal of ConVal High School. Each award comes with a $2,500 scholarship, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous donor who believes fervently in the power and promise of young people to create positive environmental change.

Karel Wolterbeek (left) of Rindge is headed to St. Lawrence University to pursue a degree in Environmental Science. He is particularly interested in community-supported agriculture and accessible outdoor recreation.

Caitlin Beal (right) of Dublin plans to attend Boston University to study journalism, with the goal of educating people about environmental issues. She has already written a number of environmental news stories for the Monadnock Ledger-Transcript through her internship with that newspaper.

The Harris Center is delighted to help these worthy local students pursue their dreams. Congrats to Karel and Caitlin!
