Clubmoss Workshop at Distant Hill Gardens
Sunday, November 10,
10:00 am to 12:00 pm
A primitive group of plants, clubmosses once towered above the dinosaurs. Though they now grow to only a few inches in height, they are a common and intriguing component of our forests, riparian areas, and wetlands. Join naturalists Michael Nerrie and Nate Marchessault for an introduction to what clubmosses are (and what they aren’t) and a tutorial on identifying the handful of species that occur in our area.
We’ll begin with an identification workshop featuring collected specimens, then head into the woods to observe these unique species in their natural habitat. Thanks to Distant Hill’s fantastic network of accessible trails, this workshop is wheelchair-accessible.
10 a.m. to noon at Distant Hill Gardens in Walpole. Exact meeting location will be provided upon registration. Space is limited, and registration is required.
