eBird is a free online tool for keeping track of your bird observations and making them available to scientists, educators, and other birders. With more than 100 million records annually, it’s also one of the world’s largest citizen science projects and an unparalleled source of data for bird research and conservation.

Join local bird expert Steven Lamonde of Antioch University New England for this hands-on introduction to eBird, where we’ll learn how to record and share our bird sightings, and to explore sightings shared by others. We’ll begin with a walkthrough of the eBird app and database, then take a break to observe birds in our yards or from our windows. After collecting our own data, we’ll come back together to practice using tools and maps on the eBird website. If you’d like to follow along on your own device(s), please download the eBird app in advance. Beginning birders are welcome!

4 to 6 p.m. via Zoom. To get the Zoom login details, please register here. [Please note: this was originally scheduled to run from 3 to 5 p.m., but we had to push it back by an hour due to a scheduling conflict.]

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Antioch Bird Club.
