A map of North and South America, illustrating the flight patterns of migratory birds.

Join avian biologist Chad Witko for an evening devoted to migratory bird science! Chad will outline the goals of National Audubon Society’s Migratory Bird Initiative and demonstrate the features of their new Migratory Bird Explorer tool. This free, online platform describes the incredible, and often perilous, annual journeys made by over 450 bird species. The Explorer is useful for conservation planning and is an outstanding resource for learning more about the conservation threats faced by migratory species at specific locations.

5:30 to 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. To get the login details, please register here. For more information, including questions about accessibility, contact Phil Brown.

This event will be recorded. To ensure access to the recording, please register for this event, even if you cannot attend live.

Speaker: Chad Witko is the Senior Coordinator of Avian Biology for the National Audubon Society’s Migratory Bird Initiative. Before working at Audubon to help secure the future of migratory birds in the Western Hemisphere, Chad worked on various avian research, conservation, and education projects across the United States since working for Project Puffin in 2004. A lifelong birder with strong bird identification and distribution knowledge, Chad has served as an eBird reviewer and seasonal editor for New Hampshire Bird Records. As an ornithologist, he is most interested in migration, patterns of vagrancy, and seabirds. As a birder, Chad believes in community engagement and is the founder of the Antioch Bird Club. He currently lives in southeastern Vermont with his partner and daughter.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the National Audubon Society.
