Kids tracking animals in the snow

Calling all kids ages 8 through 18 who love wildlife! Join Harris Center naturalist Susie Spikol to try your hand at field research and develop your naturalist skills. Together, we’ll search the edges of Hancock’s town reservoir for tracks and other evidence of wild mammals, recording our finds using cameras and simple collection techniques. Our data will then be submitted to the Hancock Board of Water Commissioners.

This will be a strenuous excursion on rugged terrain. Dress for winter conditions, and come prepared with spikes or snowshoes (or borrow winter gear from us). For children ages 8 and up. Children under the age of 12 need to be accompanied by an interested family member. All others can attend without parental supervision.

9 to 11:30 a.m. at Juggernaut Pond in Hancock. Space is limited, and registration is required.

For general information about Harris Center field trips, see our Outings Information page. For more information about this particular outing, including questions about accessibility, contact Susie.

Co-sponsored by the Harris Center for Conservation Education and the Hancock Board of Water Commissioners.
