Last Thursday, Ken Klapper and David Moon observed a fledgling Common Nighthawk being fed by its father on the roof of a building on Central Square. This is the only documented successful breeding by nighthawks in New Hampshire this year, and the first one in Keene since at least 2007. Common Nighthawks were listed as endangered in New Hampshire last fall.

It’s safe to say we’ll be keeping close watch on this chick until it leaves for points south later this summer!
